web design, graphic design, search marketing, photography, NFL and more
After reading this article on LogoDesignLove, this weekend I thought it would be a good idea to see what branding there is around me. I made a conscious effort to notice the everyday branding that would normally pass me by, or that I usually see subconsciously. I’ve by no means captured everything in the last 2 days. Maybe you could do something similar?
So, in no particular order, from when I got up to when I went to bed, these are the results:
So there comes a time when a client not only asks for design work, but also to sort the printing out for them as well. For what it’s worth, here are 3 of the best I’ve used in terms of reliability, turnaround times and print quality:
I’ve finally managed to get myself an iphone and you know what? I’m loving it already. Everything synced perfectly with the mac, my email was set up without having to lift a finger, contacts uploaded, everything. Turned on the GPS, and it knew exactly where I was. Why am I surprised? Probably because i spent too long owning a PC.
Apple = It Works.
Now the best bit. I also downloaded the iPhone sdk (it’s over 1gb, but worth it cos it’s also free) and I’m going to start building my own iPhone apps. Look out here for my fledgling productions and hopefully I’ll produce something that may actually be of use to someone…
Apologies, I know, i know, it’s been a few weeks since my last entry. I’ve been on holiday in the great English countryside and had to get back into the swing of things…
It’s important for a freelancer to have some time (either weekly or monthly) to get up to speed with new technologies and learn new skills. It’s something I haven’t done for a while, but for a few months now I’ve been hearing about jQuery especially from the Boagworld podcast. I’ve managed to get a few spare hours to read up and try some basic effects out, and I think I can say it will change the way I think about website creation from now on. The fact that its so lightweight is a bonus, but there are so many fantastic effects which are relatively easy to get going, and require just simple coding skills.
If you’re a web designer and have some spare time, it’s definitely worth getting your hands dirty. It could be the wow factor you’ve been looking for…
So, as Tuesday comes, so does the MRI scan. Still in a lot of pain, and with the painkillers only working for 45 minutes at a time, work is still taking longer than expected. One thing this mis-adventure has shown me is how versatile and user friendly the mac really is. Still, I’m glad to say that I now have a wide and diverse array of work coming in, which in a time of people tightening their belts, I feel quite privileged to be in this position.
i have an exciting web based Vaudeville inspired project which will require a lot of research and thought, but creatively will be amazing to work on. New ventures into affiliate marketing (something I’ve been thinking about for a while) are an exciting prospect and new graphic design opportunities are keeping me ticking over.
I always have room for more, so please feel free to take a look at my site and contact me if you like my work, and require any work done. Until next time, when hopefully I can type a little faster!!
